However the existing capacity of Russian ports is limited by existing level of transported goods. It is also limited by the lack of territories suitable for creation or expansion of ports. Port “KUBAN” project

Russia’s transportation and transshipment facilities annual growth was about 12%. While 35%-40% of all goods transported into or out of Russia went through the Black sea and the Azov Sea.

However the existing capacity of Russian ports is limited by existing level of transported goods. It is also limited by the lack of territories suitable for creation or expansion of ports. Also it is limited bylow levels of the technological equipment.

According to information given above we are offering a project of a new port in the region Taman bay. Taman bay is well protected from most of natural occurrences and it doesn’t have any structures built along it’s banks, which would allow us to solve the problem of development of port facilities for the future 30-40 years.

КFurthermore creation of this port solves the problem of reducing raid overloads of different goods. And allows a use of port waters for ship protection.

 

Natural conditions in the region of the port KUBAN

Taman bay is located to the west of the Taman peninsula. It is separated from Kerch strait by an underwater shaft. The bay encroaches into the land for 16 km, it’s width near entrance is about 8 km, and depth is about 5 m. Taman Gulf Coast is composed of unstable rocks and prone to strong destructive activities of the Sea. A town called Sennoy is located on the eastern bank, and there is a station called Taman near the bay entrance.

 

Purpose and composition of transshipment complexes

Analysis of marine transportations in Russia shows us that there was an increase in transportations of oil, gas, coal, metals, chemicals, lumber, grain and manufactured goods. Most of these goods may be possibly transported through Kuban. Project also includes a possibility of creation of passenger terminals near Tuzla and ministry of emergencies base near Chushka.

The complex of structures of the projected port is supposed to be located and constructed under this scheme:

- The complex of structures of the first stage of construction –area of Chushka;

- The complex of structures of the second stage of construction –area of Tuzla;

- The complex of structures of the Yacht club and resort area- between Taman and the starting point of Tuzla dumb.

Possible types of ships. According to expected volume of transportations and the type of goods for export and transit, the usage of large-scale ships of type SN-80,”PANAMAX” and SN-50, or other smaller ships.

Dredging works. In the region of expected construction it is required to do dredging works.

1) approach channel Black sea – Taman bay(of depth 16m);

2) connection channel Taman bay – Azov sea(Depth 7m);

3) junction of the channels;

4) waters near piers on Tuzla dumb(6 to 16 m);

5) waters near piers on Chushka(7 to 16 m);

6) anchorages in the Taman bay(7m).
